This expertise in holistic wellness is what gives shopping at The Healing Bead a personal touch.

History

Tulin was born Turkish, her parents immigrated to the U.S. in 1958 as medical doctors. Between the scientific worldview and the Islamic background, it sparked a curiosity about beliefs that got her reading books and studying nature and spirituality. At age 20 she married, and off to Arizona they moved in search of a life writing and performing music, while working full time in retail sales. In search of something better, she opened up her own business. Called Tulin’s back then, she made jewelry out of anything she could find, from stones to wire, and sold them at local craft fairs and swap meets. After the sudden loss of one of her cats, she relied on her spiritual background to rekindle her search for answers about life and afterlife. With the help of her local library, bookstores, and visits to Sedona, she found solace and healing. Her friends had then encouraged her to go to a holistic health expo, and she then realized that everything that was there was the culmination of her life’s journey. It was after her second expo, classes on holistic health, and work at a local health food store that she confirmed her desire to integrate the jewelry making with a holistic bookstore. The Healing Bead was born. The current logo of crystal, herb, and cat  was inspired by the kindred spirit and catalyst for her business.
